Helicopter Twirls Uncontrollably into Palm Groves at Frequented Southern California Coast
A chopper flying above a crowded southern California shoreline abruptly commenced twirling wildly, finally losing altitude and smashing into a cluster of palm fronds as onlookers looked on.
Recordings uploaded on social media show the helicopter starting to spin near the beach then plunging in the direction of the edge of the coast, where it ends up lodged amidst palm groves and a steps adjacent to the Pacific Coast highway.
First Aid Update
Emergency responders said five persons were taken to hospital comprising a pair who were in the helicopter and were “rescued from the debris” following the incident on the weekend.
Three individuals on the pavement were hurt. Details on their wounds were not immediately available.
